We had the pleasure of partnering with Prospect House School to host an engaging four-day coding and robotics workshop this week.
Throughout the workshop, we guided three groups of Year 6 children through a dynamic rotation of activities including robotics, coding, data science, and micro:bit programming.
We were truly impressed by the dedication and perseverance displayed by the children as they worked towards earning their badges, which were awarded based on completion merit. Mark, Luke, and Ferguson particularly stood out for their exceptional commitment, earning all three badges of merit – one for completing Python tutorials, another for HTML, and the prestigious overall coding gold merit badges!
The robotics segment showcased remarkable creativity, with Benji demonstrating excellent teamwork skills by assisting other groups in building their vehicles for the big race. Rivan's enthusiasm was contagious, and Talia truly shone with her determination and excitement to craft the finest vehicle possible. Ultimately, Bond and Max's collaborative effort resulted in the fastest car, earning them the badge for the best vehicle!
In the final session, the children participated in a thrilling game jam where they constructed Python-based quizzes. Harry's exemplary quiz stood out for its seamless functionality, challenging questions, and accurate answer percentage statistics, earning him a well-deserved gold badge for merit!
Overall, it was a rewarding experience collaborating closely with the children. The interactive, challenge-based format made for an enjoyable week, providing the children with valuable exposure to real-world, text-based programming languages at a young age.
We extend our gratitude to Prospect House School for offering the invitation to host this enriching coding and robotics workshop. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and inspire young minds together!'
