Upon Arrival

  • Sign in at reception. The receptionist will give you a folder with the register. The register must be returned to the receptionist at the end of the session.

  • Some of the Chromebooks are already in the classroom which you will be using, but some will need to be collected from another room. Please collect the extra Chromebooks and take them to the classroom before the pupils arrive at the club.

  • The children will be lined up across the main staircase with their teachers. The teachers will dismiss the children to you. Walk the children to the room.

Register

Collect from the Receptionist at the start of the session and return it there at the end of the session.

Logging on

Chromebook login details will be in the folder which the Receptionist has given you. Please make sure pupils record all other login details on their Progress Diary - Cadet Hub login, Scratch login, Trinket login.

During the Session

  • Pupils will be working their way through their learning pathways on the Cadet Hub.

  • The IT team should be available to help with device problems if need be. Ask the Receptionist to contact them.

  • Be aware of the noise level in the room and ask children to be quiet when needed. Pupils should be warned that if they need spoken to about behaviour then their tutor will place a dot on their Progress Diary and their teacher will be informed. We operate a 3 dots and out policy.

  • Please ensure that all pupils are engaged in a meaningful activity. All pupils should be working towards receiving their next badge and keeping their Progress Diaries up to date.

End of session

  • Pack up 10 minutes before the end of the session - 4.50 pm.

  • Ensure children tuck chairs in, and leave room tidy. Chromebooks which belong in that room should be plugged back in for charging.

  • Take children back to the main entrance and await arrival of parents.

  • Parents will come forward and child will tell you that they see their parent/person.

  • ENSURE CHILDREN GO AWAY ONLY WITH A KNOWN ADULT.

  • Never leave a child alone. If no-one has come to collect the child, take them to reception desk and let someone know. Only wait until 5.05 pm. If no-one has come for a child by then, inform Receptionist who will take them to the after-school care service.

  • Return register and folder to Receptionist.

  • Go back and collect the extra Chromebooks, return them to their room and plug in for charging.

  • Sign out at reception.

Children should be working on

1 May 2024 - children should be working on their learning pathways on the Cadet Hub, however, to date, St Mary’s children have not yet logged into the hub. Most are working through code.org activities. Their login details for code.org are in the folder. It is our aim that going forward, the children should be given Cadet Hub logins to enable them to access the activities on there, particularly Scratch Jr activities (we have requested the IT team install the Scratch Jr app on the Chromebooks). In the meantime, code.org is fine or ask pupils to log on to the ‘Hour of Code’ website.
